73-Year-Old Woman Badly Hurt after Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash on Highway 3
HAYFORK, CA (January 9, 2023) – Tuesday night, police responded to a pedestrian collision near Brady Road that injured Janet Capes.
Per initial reports, the collision occurred on January 3rd at around 6:45 p.m., when police were dispatched to Highway 3 near Brady Road for calls about a pedestrian involved in a crash.
According to police, 73-year-old Janet Capes was walking in the northbound lane, for reasons currently unknown, when she was struck by a 2014 Toyota heading north.
Furthermore, police later identified the driver of the Toyota as 57-year-old Sarah Ackerly.
Consequently, Ackerly stopped and called 911 after the initial collision. Officers arrived at the scene and transported Capes to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of various injuries.
Meanwhile, Ackerly did not sustain any injuries in the accident. The crash is still under active investigation and any witnesses are encouraged to contact the CHP Trinity River office.
