Paula LeClaire Killed, Alexander LeClaire Hurt and Carson Penna Charged after Head-On Accident on State Route 395 [Spokane, WA]

56-Year-Old Woman Killed in Two-Car Collision near Spokane

SPOKANE, WA (December 16, 2022) – Friday, Paula LeClaire was killed and Alexander LeClaire was hurt in a head-on accident on State Route 395.

Around 4:00 p.m., police received dispatch calls about 10 miles north of Spokane.

Per reports, Carson Penna was driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler south on the highway, while Paula was driving a 1999 Subaru north.

For reasons unknown, Penna veered across the center line and into oncoming traffic, where he collided head-on with the Subaru.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 56-year-old Paula, of Colville dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported her passenger, 26-year-old Alexander, of Colville to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Following preliminary duties, officers say impairment did not play a factor. However, police charged 17-year-old Penna, of Spokane with negligent driving. Investigators say he was wearing a seat belt and remained uninjured.

Officers also say Paula was wearing a seat belt; however, police are unsure as to whether Alexander was wearing a seat belt.
