16-Year-Old Passenger Pronounced Dead after Car Accident near Bear Ridge Road

MORRO BAY, CA (December 15, 2022) – Saturday, Orion Messina was arrested and his passenger was killed in a DUI crash on Highway 41. 

Just before noon, the accident occurred just south of Bear Ridge Road.

According to reports, Messina was driving a southbound 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara and hydroplaned as he entered a right-hand curve. The vehicle then overturned down a nearby hillside, ejecting its passenger.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the 16-year-old passenger dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Messina, of Atascadero remained uninjured and officers arrested him. Following preliminary duties, police determined that alcohol played a factor in the incident. 

Furthermore, a large portion of the Highway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
