Richard Mann Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run on State Route 111 [Palm Springs, CA]
Hit-and-Run Crash near Overture Drive Left Man Dead, 2 Children Hospitalized
PALM SPRINGS, CA (November 28, 2022) – Friday evening, Richard Mann was arrested after a hit-and-run along northbound State Route 111.
The crash happened at around 7:05 p.m., south of Overture Drive in Palm Springs.
According to reports, the driver of a 2018 Chevy Silverado made an unsafe turn and hit the rear of a 2006 GMC Sierra parked on the right shoulder.
The impact of the collision caused the Silverado to overturn. The driver of the Silverado then fled the scene without rendering aid to the occupants inside the GMC.
First responders arrived and pronounced the 45-year-old male driver of the GMC dead at the scene, due to the extent of his injuries.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old male and 12-year-old female passenger also sustained injuries. Crews airlifted the boy to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Paramedics also took the girl to Desert Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance.
Police later arrested 39-year-old Mann for DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and hit-and-run.
