78-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident near Casimir Avenue

TORRANCE, CA (October 31, 2022) – Thursday morning, Ralph Paccione was killed in a pedestrian crash on Artesia Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene around 7:35 a.m., on the 2700 block of Artesia Boulevard near Casimir Avenue.

According to authorities, the driver of a white 2005 Ford truck was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes and rear-ended a black 2000 Toyota truck.

Upon impact, the driver of the white Ford lost control and struck the pedestrian walking on the side of the southbound lanes. The Ford them came to rest after striking the fence of a residence.

The involved driver then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Although, authorities have not released a description of the suspect.

Medics arrived and pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries. The coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as 78-year-old Paccione.

Meanwhile, authorities transported the 44-year-old driver of the Toyota who suffered minor injuries to a hospital.
