44-Year-Old Man Killed in Pursuit Crash near 69th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (October 24, 2022) – Monday, Agustin Coyotl was killed and Jonathan Hernandez was arrested after a crash on San Leandro Street.
Police responded to the scene around 7:00 a.m., near 69th Avenue on October 17th.
Per reports, 23-year-old Hernandez was fleeing from police and struck a red pickup-truck, driven by Coyotl at the intersection.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 44-year-old Coyotl dead at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, officers arrested Jonathan Hernandez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, evading police, and gun violations.
Investigators say officers were pursuing Hernandez for a hit-and-run when the collision occurred.
Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still underway.
