Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Collision near Bailey Road
MOUNTAIN PASS, CA (October 24, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 15.
The incident happened around 7:45 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway between Bailey and Nipton Road. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after on October 18th.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a Toyota Camry was heading north in the southbound lanes. As a result, the Toyota collided head-on with an oncoming pickup-truck.
Medics arrived and airlifted the male driver of the pickup-truck to University Medical Center, of Southern Nevada.
Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the Toyota driver dead at the scene. Crews also say the occupants of another involved vehicle remained unharmed.
Officers closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
At this time, further events leading up to the wrong-way crash on Interstate 15 have not been released.
