Teen Injured in Wrong-Way Collision near Smith Flat Road
PLACERVILLE, CA (October 17, 2022) – Early Friday morning, police arrested Anthony Estrada following a DUI crash on Highway 50.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of the highway near Smith Flat Road.
According to reports, a 2004 Honda Civic was traveling west at a high rate of speed on the eastbound lanes of the highway. There, the Civic collided head-on with another vehicle near Bedford Avenue.
Emergency crews arrived shortly after and transported a 15-year-old passenger from inside the SUV to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Medics also transported the 15-year-old SUV driver to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, crews also transported the Honda driver, 36-year-old Anthony Estrada, for unspecified damages.
Authorities later arrested Estrada and booked him into El Dorado County Jail in Placerville for suspicion of DUI and other related charges.
