Nine Hurt in Car Accident near Lake Murray Boulevard
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 14, 2022) – Monday afternoon, a crash on Interstate 8 left nine people, including Becky Coy and Julianna Coy, injured.
The collision happened around 3:49 p.m., on westbound I-8, just west of Lake Murray Boulevard.
Investigators say the driver of a Mazda sedan was speeding and struck a van carrying nine occupants. The impact of the collision left the driver and her eight minor passengers injured.
Responding paramedics arrived and transported all nine victims, one in critical condition, to Rady Children’s Hospital for medical treatment.
Police have only identified Becky Coy and her 10-year-old child, Julianna Coy, among the victims.
Meanwhile, the second driver escaped the crash unharmed. Following preliminary duties, police believe the Mazda driver was speeding with another vehicle when the crash occurred.
