Fatal Big-Rig Accident near Buckhorn Summit
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2022) – Thursday night, Christopher Watson died and Anabol Cisneros-Torres was hurt in a crash on Highway 299.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m., just east of Buckhorn Summit on August 18th.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Watson was driving westbound in a white Kia sedan when he veered into the opposite lane and crashed head-on with an oncoming semi-truck.
The impact of the collision caused the semi-truck to catch on fire. The fire then spread to the roadside vegetation. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced the Kia driver, 46-year-old Christopher Merle Watson, dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics took the semi-truck driver to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Police later identified the semi-truck driver as 44-year-old Cisneros-Torres.
