Two Motorcyclists Fatally Injured in Separate Crashes
FRESNO, CA (August 31, 2022) – Friday afternoon, Christopher Ortega and Joe Madrid were killed in a separate motorcycle collisions.
The first incident took place near Highway 41 and Harlan Avenue around 2:00 p.m., on August 26th, involving a motorcycle driven by 57-year-old Christopher Ortega, a resident of San Luis Obispo.
According to police, Ortega attempted to pass the moving traffic on the highway and struck a concrete center median causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle. Ortega suffered injuries from which he later died.
A second crash occurred just after 20 minutes involving another motorcyclist and a pickup truck. Police say that the crash happened because traffic was affected due to the first crash. Officials reported that the second crash involved a motorcycle, driven by 41-year-old Joe Madrid, a resident of Clovis.
Madrid also attempted to pass moving traffic near Mount Whitney and Elm Avenues. There, he struck the rear of a pickup-truck. Madrid also died at the scene.
