James Louthian Injured, One Killed in Single-Car Accident on Highway 44 [Shasta County, CA]
Driver Ejected and Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash near Chateau Drive
SHASTA COUNTY,CA (August 19, 2022) – Early Wednesday, one man was killed while James Louthian was injured in a car accident on Highway 44.
Police responded to the scene around 1:30 a.m., near Chateau Drive after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.
According to reports, a man was driving a 1994 Chevrolet S10 westbound on the highway when he began to veer off the right shoulder. As a result, the vehicle struck a ditch before colliding with a nearby tree on the vehicle’s right side.
Upon impact, the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle. Due to the extent of his condition, medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old male passenger suffered from serious internal injuries. Crews later identified him as James Louthian.
Following preliminary investigations, investigators determined that both occupants were not wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash. However, an active investigation is still underway.
