68-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Solimar Beach
VENTURA, CA (August 15, 2022) – Mary Centeno was killed in a pedestrian crash on Pacific Coast Highway, Wednesday morning.
The incident happened shortly after 9:20 a.m., near Solimar Beach. Investigators say the collision involved a pedestrian and a 2003 GMC 3500 pickup-truck, driven by a 61-year-old man.
For reasons unknown, the GMC struck Centeno as she was walking in the southbound lanes. Witnesses helped to provide assistance to Centeno until Ventura County Fire Department units arrived.
Due to extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 68-year-old Centeno dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the male driver of the pickup-truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Additionally, police said that the driver showed signs of impairment and was charged with driving while impaired.
