Woman Killed, Several Injured in Traffic Crash near Reseda Boulevard
PORTER RANCH, CA (June 13, 2022) – 31-year-old Zeomara Cohen was killed in a fiery collision on 118 Freeway, late Thursday evening.
The accident happened at 11:45 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the 118 Freeway, just east of Reseda Boulevard.
Per reports, David Cohen, the driver and father of the family inside the vehicle, veered off the road and ran into an embankment before colliding with a fuel line.
The impact caused the white 2019 Lexus RX 350 to burst into flames. Two LAPD officers who witnessed the crash helped extricate multiple passengers from inside the car.
However, authorities were unable to rescue the mother of the family, Cohen. Responding officials pronounced her dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took the rest of the victims to Northridge Hospital for treatment.
Following preliminary duties, officers later arrested and booked 31-year-old David Cohen on suspicion of DUI.
Police said the three remaining children of the couple were released to family members. Authorities later identified them as Cienna Marquez, 9; Chanel Cohen, 4; and Chloe Cohen, 4 months old.
Furthermore, officials said the accident caused a chain-reaction crash involving several other vehicles.
