Male Rider Injured in Motorcycle Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 299
TRINITY COUNTY, CA (May 31, 2022) – 75-year-old Jaques Loren sustained injuries in a motorcycle collision on Highway 299.
The incident happened around 3:10 p.m. on Highway 299 near Salyer Store on May 24th.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Loren was riding his motorcycle east on the highway while a 1987 Toyota was traveling westbound.
Investigators say the Toyota driver failed to yield to the right of way the motorcyclist. As a result, Loren was unable to brake in time, and the two vehicles collided.
The impact ejected the rider from his motorcycle onto the road, leaving the 75-year-old man with critical injures. Paramedics quickly responded and transported Loren to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, officers reported that the Toyota driver exited his vehicle and entered a white Toyota FJ Cruiser before fleeing the scene.
