Student Killed in Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Oasis Street
INDIO, CA (May 26, 2022) – Sunday night, 13-year-old Ismael Fuentes was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Avenue 48.
The incident happened around 8:22 p.m., near the intersection of Avenue 48 and Oasis Street.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a pickup-truck struck the pedestrian. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Fuentes dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary investigations, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role.
Crews say that Fuentes was a student at Colonel Mitchell Paige Middle School.
