Monique Contreraz Dead, Shawn Ginder Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Crash on Herndon Avenue [Fresno, CA]

1 Dead after Fatal Pedestrian Crash near Milburn Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 17, 2022) – Early Friday, Monique Contreraz, was fatally struck by Shawn Ginder in a hit-and-run crash on Herndon Avenue.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m., in the parking lot of La Quinta Inn on Cornelia Avenue.

As per reports, the driver of a Chevy Silverado was heading north on Milburn Avenue and struck a woman pushing a shopping cart and walking her dog on a leash.

The driver then dragged the homeless woman approximately eight miles to the La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham.

After the collision, the driver tried to book a room at the inn but failed to do so.  Authorities later identified the suspect as 38-year-old Shawn Ginder of Fresno.

Police later located the suspect vehicle, a grey pickup-truck, at Ginder’s apartment. However, Ginder was located at a residence in Madera and tried to escape by jumping out a window.

Officers said Ginder sustained injuries and medics took him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Upon his released, police will book him into the Fresno Jail.

At this time, Fresno Officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
