Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Coast Highway [Long Beach, CA]
Man Sleeping in Bushes Struck and Killed near Santiago Avenue
LONG BEACH, CA (May 25, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, a man was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident on Pacific Coast Highway.
Dispatchers responded to the scene near Santiago Avenue around 1:50 a.m., to what was originally reported as a non-injury collision.
Authorities responded to the scene and located a vehicle stopped against a concrete wall over a flower bed. Once towing services removed the car, officers located the 66-year-old deceased man pinned underneath.
According to reports, the van was heading westbound when the driver lost control and veered off the road, striking the man who was sleeping in the flower bed at the time.
The driver stayed at the scene, and confirmed that he was distracted while operating the vehicle.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further details is still underway.
