Woman Killed in Vehicle Accident on Taft Highway [Bakersfield, CA]
Pedestrian Crash on Michele Street Left One Fatality
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 4, 2022) – Friday evening, a vehicle accident on Taft Highway claimed the life of one woman, police said.
The crash happened along Taft Highway and Michele Street just before 11:00 p.m., according to a report about a vehicle that struck a pedestrian.
Furthermore, the police said the woman was found unresponsive in the roadway. Eventually, authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Kern County Coroner’s Office has not released the identity of the woman at this time.
The involved driver stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
Furthermore, a portion of Taft Highway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but has since reopened.
Police said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when she was struck; however, an active investigation is currently underway.
