Multiple Dead after Fatal Speeding Collision in North Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 22, 2022) – In January, Jose Zacarias-Caldera and eight others were killed in a car accident in North Las Vegas.
Per reports, 59-year-old Gary Robinson accelerated his maroon Dodge Challenger upwards of 100 mph prior to entering the intersection against a red traffic signal.
As a result, the Dodge collided with a Toyota Sienna. Robinson and his passenger, along with the seven occupants inside the Toyota succumbed to their life-threatening injuries.
Reports later confirmed that speeding was a factor in the mid-afternoon crash, as the speed limit in the area is 35 mph (56 kph).
Killed in a Toyota were the driver, Jose Zacarias-Caldera, 35; and passengers David Mejia-Barrera, 25; Gabriel Mejia-Barrera, 23; Bryan Axel Zacarias, 15; Lluvia Daylenn Zacarias, 13; Adrian Zacarias, 10; and Fernando Yeshua Mejia, 5. They were all North Las Vegas residents.
In addition, Robinson and his passenger, Tanaga Ravel Miller, 46, also lived in North Las Vegas.
Investigators added that five of the nine deceased victims were wearing their seat belts. In addition, the impact ejected three minivan occupants from the vehicle.
Moreover, the Las Vegas Review-Journal called the wreck the deadliest in Nevada in at least the last 30 years. Once available, further details will be provided.
