17-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Deadly Collision on McDowell Road
PHOENIX, AZ (April 21, 2022) – Wednesday night, 17-year-old Juan Diaz was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on 61st Avenue.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m., near the intersection of 61st Avenue and McDowell Road.
According to reports, the driver of an eastbound pickup-truck struck Diaz as he was standing on the street.
Due to the extent of his condition, medics pronounced Diaz deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe that impairment played a factor.
However, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
