Red Light Runner Fatally Strikes Two Victims on Superstition Boulevard
APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (April 18, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, a collision on Ironwood Drive took the lives of Daniel Sitar and Valerie Lewis.
The fatal accident happened around 6:30 p.m., at the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Superstition Boulevard.
According to reports, the two victims were traveling on a three-wheeled motorcycle through the intersection.
For reasons under investigation, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Robert Anderson ran a red light and struck the victims.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, crews pronounced Sitar and Lewis dead at the scene. Meanwhile, medics took Anderson to Apache Junction Hospital with unspecified injuries.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
Per the initial investigation, police believed Anderson was impaired while driving. Officers said Anderson was still under investigation for possible charges.
