Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Accident near 18th Street
MERCED, CA (April 18, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, an unidentified man was killed in a pedestrian collision on G Street.
The fatal accident occurred along G Street near 18th Street around 5:15 a.m., on April 10th. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
According to reports, the driver of a southbound 2005 Infiniti sedan struck the male pedestrian along G Street. Shortly after, a Merced Police patrol unit responding to the scene also struck the victim as they were lying on the roadway.
Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Although, authorities are still currently withholding the victim’s identity at this time.
While this accident is being investigated, the involved police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.
