Mother Killed, Daughter Injured in Car Crash on Southern Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (April 14, 2022) – Tuesday, Eulalio Juarez Rodriguez was arrested, and Katrina Dean was killed in a collision on 32nd Avenue.
The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m., near the intersection of 32nd and Southern Avenue.
Per reports, Rodriguez was driving a Camaro at speeds up to 115 mph 2.5 seconds prior to the crash. About a half second before the impact, the Camaro slowed down to 88 mph in a 45 mph speed zone.
There, the Camaro crashed into a Hyundai that was traveling east on Southern, making a left turn onto 32nd Avenue. The impact, pushed the Hyundai into a wooden power pole, causing serious injuries to the occupants.
Police said 35-year-old Dean was driving with her 4-year-old daughter. The girl’s godmother, Liz Pena, later told ABC15 her name is Aubrielle Randels.
Crews eventually booked 18-year-old Rodriguez into the Maricopa County Jail where he currently faces charges of manslaughter due to speed. Although, police say impairment is not suspected.
In addition, the loved ones of Dean created a GoFundMe page to help with expenses during this devastating time.
