Several Victims Hurt in Train Accident near Scott Street

SAN BRUNO, CA (March 15, 2022) – Thursday morning, a fiery crash near Scott Street left several injured, including two Caltrain employees.

The incident happened just before 10:40 am. Per reports, Caltrain No. 506 was heading south carrying 75 passengers, and hit a truck with a crane attached.

Additionally, investigators said that the Caltrain struck some on-track equipment including the crane, which resulted in a fire. Photos from the scene show the front of the train engulfed in flames before crews extinguished the fire.

Agency officials later confirmed that thirteen individuals sustained injuries, however none of them were deemed to be life-threatening.

Following preliminary investigations, crews determined that the train struck a vehicle that was part of Caltrain’s track electrification work.

At this time, San Bruno Officials and The National Transportation Safety Board are still investigating the Caltrain crash. Once available, further details will be provided.
