Driver and Passenger Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision on Cherokee Road
MERCED, CA (March 7, 2022) – Wednesday afternoon, Elias Flores and Carlos Galindo died in a car crash on Fahey Road.
The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m., near the intersection of Fahey and Cherokee Road.
Per reports, the incident involved a Nissan and a Honda. Moreover, officials said Flores was driving the Nissan with Galindo in the front passenger seat.
For reasons unknown, Flores lost control of his vehicle and slid across the westbound lane. The Nissan ended up on the shoulder, where it eventually collided with a telephone pole.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 17-year-old Flores and 24-year-old Galindo dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Honda driver suffered serious injuries after losing control and traveling to the south side of the road, colliding with a guard rail, and overturning in a canal.
An active investigation is still ongoing at this moment. Authorities will update more information when it becomes available.
