Tyrone Pate Dies in Rollover Collision on 118 Freeway [Granada Hills, CA]
Traffic Crash near 405 Freeway Left One Fatality
GRANADA HILLS, CA (March 7, 2022) – 77-year-old Tyrone Pate died in a multi-car rollover collision on 118 Freeway, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 11:45 a.m. just west of the 405 Freeway, in the eastbound lanes of 118.
Furthermore, according to California Highway Patrol, one of the cars involved flipped a few times before slamming into the center divider and the pole that held up the sign spanning all eastbound lanes.
Moreover, authorities also said the second vehicle involved ended up landing in the westbound lanes of the freeway.
Consequently, officers on the scene pronounced one unidentified person dead. The victim later identified as Tyrone Pate, 77.
Meanwhile, the crash shut down five lanes, including the passing lane, for an unknown amount of time.
Granada Hills police did not release any additional information at this time but will release updates once available.
