Man Killed Semi-Truck Collision on Highway 99 [Bakersfield, CA]
Male Driver Fatally Struck by Vehicles in Deadly Crash near Merle Haggard Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 27, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, a man was fatally struck in a semi-truck collision on Highway 99.
The crash happened around 2:07 a.m., just north of Merle Haggard Drive.
As per preliminary investigation reports, a driver caused a crash on the highway and attempted to flee the scene on foot. After crossing the center divider, the man was hit by a passing semi-truck just south of Lerdo Highway.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck did not stop and fled southbound.
Either intoxication of alcohol or drugs is being considered as a factor of the deadly collision. Although, an active investigation is still currently underway.
