20-Year-Old Man Killed in Auto Accident near El Camino Avenue
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 24, 2022) – A car crash on Interstate 80 claimed the life of Damaris Gonzalez Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the deadly collision happened along the Interstate 80 on-ramp near El Camino Avenue. Crews responded to the scene around 5:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered that 20-year old Gonzalez was driving a Chrysler 300 sedan when he lost control and traveled across the westbound lanes of Interstate 80. Near the on-ramp, he crashed into a tree and fell into an embankment.
Around 5:18 a.m., a caller reported seeing the vehicle collision and authorities responded to the area.
Eventually, emergency responders found the car down the embankment and pronounced 20-year-old Damaris Gonzalez dead.
Investigators believe the driver did not crash from the onramp. Instead, he was driving at “freeway speeds” on westbound Interstate 80 when the car went across the interstate and crashed into the ditch at a high speed.
The crash is still under investigation.
