20-Year-Old Man Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on State Route 1 [Watsonville, CA]

Rider Hospitalized after Motorcycle Collision near Buena Vista Drive

WATSONVILLE, CA (November 23, 2021) – A 20-year-old Watsonville rider suffered injuries from a motorcycle crash on State Route 1 on Friday.

The incident took place around 9:00 a.m., on northbound lanes of the freeway near Buena Vista Drive. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to California Highway Patrol, the rider was operating a 2022 BMW motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he changed lanes and crashed into a 2014 Mercedes.

Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to Natividad Medical Center with serious injuries. Meanwhile, the driver did not sustain any injuries.

In the midst of the crash, an uninvolved car stopped at the scene and a woman from the car stole a purse from the Mercedes and fled the scene.

Authorities continue to ask anyone who witnessed the crash and the robbery to call them at at 831-662-0511.
