Police Chase Ends in Pedestrian Collision that Kills Sgt Michael Rudd
QUARTZSITE, AZ (October 18, 2021) – Last Monday, Sgt Michael Rudd died after being struck by vehicle in a following chase near the Border.
According to authorities, Sgt. Rudd exited his vehicle and was then hit head-on by a commercial motor vehicle on Interstate 10.
The pursuit began just after midnight Monday by Quartzsite police, the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety and concluded about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Quartzsite.
Additionally, the chase suspect was apprehended, but the driver of the commercial motor vehicle remained at the site. Their identities are not immediately revealed.
Per the DPS authorities, the department’s vehicular crimes unit is investigating the deadly event.
Moreover, a GoFundMe page has been created to assist Rudd’s family with funeral expenses.
