Motorcyclist Killed in Fatal Collision near Nellis Boulevard in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (October 14, 2021) – Late Saturday morning, Jose Luis Ochoa, 39, was arrested after fatal hit-and-run crash.
The incident occurred on East Lake Mead Boulevard near Nellis Boulevard at 9:55 a.m., as per report. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
Ochoa was driving a Tahoe when he swerved left and struck an eastbound 2006 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle. The rider was traveling at about 55 miles per hour at the time.
The motorcycle was operated by 34-year-old Lindsay Ellen Brandt, of Las Vegas. She was taken to UMC trauma with life-threatening wounds. However, Brandt succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital.
In addition, Ochoa fled the area without rendering aid to the victim. Witnesses chased him down multiple blocks, and provided police with a suspect description.
Ochoa showed no signs of impairment and was later booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He was reportedly charged with hit-and-run.
Moreover, the intersection was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
