62-Year-Old Sacramento Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Dos Rios Street

SACRAMENTO, CA (February 24, 2025) – Wednesday night, a woman was killed and Steve Read was arrested after a hit-and-run on North B Street.

Around 8:00 p.m., police officers responded to the scene near Dos Rios Street. 

Upon arrival, first responders discovered the female victim lying partially on the roadway.

Responding medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released her name or place of residency.

Officers claimed the driver involved in the incident fled the scene before authorities arrived. 

Authorities managed to arrest and book the driver into jail for felony hit-and-run and DUI. He was later identified as 62-year-old Steve Read of Sacramento.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. 

Those who witnessed the fatal North B Street hit-and-run can call the Sacramento Police Department as soon as possible. Once available, more details will be provided.
