Two-Vehicle Collision near Cecil Way Left One Dead, Another Hospitalized

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 19, 2025) – Saturday night, one driver was killed and another was hurt in a head-on crash on Highway 43 near Delano.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 10:56 p.m., just north of Cecil Way. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that the driver of a Nissan Sentra veered left while traveling north on the highway. 

As a result, the Sentra went directly into the path of a Tesla Model 3 going southbound, resulting in a head-on collision. 

Emergency personnel pronounced the Nissan driver deceased at the scene. The deceased driver’s name remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. 

Meanwhile, paramedics took the Tesla driver to Kern Medical for treatment of major injuries. 

Responding crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, Bakersfield Officials continue to investigate the fatal head-on crash on Highway 43. Once available, further details will be provided.
