Female Passenger Dead, Two Others Hurt in Head-On Collision near Avenue 44

INDIO, CA (February 19, 2025) – Early Friday, a woman died and two others suffered injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Fred Waring Drive. 

Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 6:00 a.m., in the area of Fred Waring Drive and Avenue 44. 

Based on the initial investigation, an eastbound BMW sedan veered into the oncoming traffic. As a result, the BMW collided head-on with a Nissan Sentra traveling westbound. 

Responding medical personnel declared the female passenger dead at the scene. Her identity remains undisclosed to the public. 

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the drivers of both cars to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries. 

Reports indicate that the 45-year-old man driving the BMW is now in stable condition. Meanwhile, the 37-year-old woman driving the Nissan remained hospitalized in critical condition.
