Female Passenger Killed in Solo-Vehicle Accident near Marina Vista Off-Ramp

MARTINEZ, CA (February 18, 2025) – Monday morning, a woman was killed and a man was hurt in a minivan crash on Interstate 680.

The incident happened around 10:32 a.m., along the northbound lanes of Interstate 680, near the Marina Vista off-ramp.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a white Dodge Caravan went off the right shoulder before the driver returned to the roadway.

The Caravan then crashed into the concrete center divider before flipping over in the middle of the lanes. At this time, the circumstances that caused the minivan to leave the roadway remain unclear.

Responding emergency personnel pronounced the female passenger dead at the scene. The male driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Investigators claimed the two occupants didn’t appear to be wearing seatbelts prior to the incident.

The identities of the deceased passenger have not been released to the public, pending notification from the next of kin.

The CHP closed the three right-hand lanes of northbound Interstate 680 as crews cleared the scene.
