19-Year-Old Lancaster Woman Pronounced Dead after Two-Car Collision near 27th Street East

LANCASTER, CA (February 17, 2025) – Saturday evening, Ruby Herrera Gomez was fatally injured in a 2-car crash on Avenue J.

The incident occurred around 8:05 p.m., at the intersection of Avenue J and 27th Street East, near Via Romana. 

According to police, the driver of a northbound gray sedan collided with an eastbound green minivan. 

Investigators claimed the crash happened after the woman driving the gray sedan decided to make a westbound turn onto Avenue J. 

Responding paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department pronounced the sedan passenger dead at the scene. 

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the deceased passenger as 19-year-old Ruby Herrera Gomez. 

Police reported no other injuries from the incident. Authorities are asking those who witnessed the fatal Avenue J collision to call the Lancaster station at 661-948-8466.
