40-Year-Old Woman Dead, Passenger Hospitalized after ATV Accident in Fresno County

COALINGA, CA (February 12, 2025) – Sunday evening, an ATV crash on a Coalinga property left a female rider dead and her passenger injured. 

The fatal incident happened shortly before 10:00 p.m., on a private property near Coalinga in Fresno County. 

California Highway Patrol officers say a woman riding an ATV down an embankment lost control for reasons unknown. 

As a result, the ATV overturned, ejecting her and her back passenger. Responding paramedics pronounced the female driver deceased after being taken to a hospital.

Her passenger remained hospitalized for treatment of moderate injuries. The identity of the deceased driver has not been made public by authorities. 

Investigators from the California Highway Patrol claimed that both occupants were not wearing helmets at the time of the incident. Officials also believe that intoxication may have played a role in the crash. 

Fresno County Officials will release additional information regarding the deadly ATV crash once available.
