56-Year-Old Keyes Man Pronounced Dead after Pickup-Truck Accident near Lucinda Avenue

KEYES, CA (February 10, 2025) – Monday afternoon, a solo-car accident on South Washington Road took the life of Roy Bilyeu. 

The deadly crash happened shortly before 3:00 p.m., on South Washington Road, just north of Lucinda Avenue.

According to CHP, a white 2003 Chevrolet pickup-truck veered off the east side of the road while traveling northbound. 

Consequently, the pickup-truck crashed into several nut trees before coming to rest. At this time, it remains unclear why the driver left the roadway. 

First responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased driver as 56-year-old Bilyeu, of Keyes. 

At this time, investigators are working to determine whether the drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident. 

California Highway Patrol officers closed the South Washington Road between Lucinda Avenue and East Redwood Road for investigation.
