Christopher Vargas Killed, Jesus Daniel Mesa-Pena Involved in Rear-End Collision on State Highway 158 [Midland County, TX]
26-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near East County Road 160
MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (February 10, 2025) – Tuesday morning, Christopher Vargas died in a rear-end collision on State Highway 158.
Police officers responded to the scene just before 6:50 a.m., near East County Road 160 on January 21st.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Vargas was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram 2500 in the westbound lanes. The Dodge was behind a 1996 Freightliner with a trailer driven by 27-year-old Jesus Daniel Mesa-Pena.
Furthermore, Vargas failed to slow down and crashed into the back of Mesa-Pena. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, 26-year-old Vargas died at the scene.
Meanwhile, Mesa-Pena did not obtain any injuries from the collision, and further investigation is still ongoing.
