Woman and Man Dead after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Mile Marker 49

THOUSAND PALMS, CA (February 10, 2025) – Tuesday, a semi-truck crash on Interstate 10 killed Carolina Navarrete De Leal and Fabian Zamora.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m., along the westbound lanes near mile marker 49. 

Based on the initial investigation, at least two big-rigs and a car collided on the freeway, shutting down all the lanes. 

First responders declared two of the involved drivers dead at the scene. Paramedics transported a third driver to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased victims as 49-year-old Leal, of Coachella and 31-year-old Zamora, of Indio.

Thousand Palms Officials will provide more information about the fatal three-vehicle crash once it is available.
