57-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Three-Vehicle Collision near State Highway 158
MIDLAND, TX (February 5, 2025) – Thursday morning, Richard Allen Howell was killed in a semi-truck crash on State Highway 349.
The incident happened on January 9th around 6:35 a.m., near the State Highway 158 overpass.
According to reports, the collision involved a 2020 Kenworth truck towing a trailer driven by 27-year-old Sheniel Nicholas Samuels, a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Howell, and a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by 32-year-old Adrian Mathew Armendariz.
Investigators say Samuels was heading west on the freeway while Howell and Armendariz were heading east.
Moreover, the road conditions were icy and Samuels was driving unsafely. As a result, the semi-truck veered into the eastbound lanes. As a result, Samuels crashed into both Howell and Armendariz.
Despite life-saving efforts, 57-year-old Howell died at the scene.
