18-Year-Old Pronounced Dead after Single-Car Accident near San Juan Highway

SAN BENITO COUNTY, CA (February 5, 2025) – A single-car accident on San Justo Road claimed the life of Jolie Ochoa.

The fatal collision happened around 5:03 p.m., along San Just Road, east of San Juan Highway

According to the investigators, the driver went onto the opposing lanes and veered off the highway before rolling into a dirt field. 

Responding emergency personnel pronounced the front passenger dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver and the left-rear passenger of the vehicle were airlifted to a hospital for serious injuries. 

Later, the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased passenger as 18-year-old Ochoa, from Merced. Ochoa was a first-year student at the California State University.

Authorities are working to determine if drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident. The CHP Hollister-Gilroy is leading the investigation.
