42-Year-Old Construction Worker Pronounced Dead after Fatal Collision near Bellingham

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (February 5, 2025) – Tuesday morning, Brandon Gipson was killed in a construction-truck crash on East Smith Road.

The incident happened on January 28th around 9:00 p.m., on East Smith Road near Bellingham.

According to the Washington State Patrol troopers, 42-year-old Gipson was walking westbound on the shoulder.

Meanwhile, a construction vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man was heading eastbound, and struck Gipson, resulting in critical injuries.

Due to the impact of the crash, Gipson succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Police say that Gipson was a construction worker, and will be deeply missed by his community.

Following preliminary duties, alcohol or drugs were not suspected as factors to the crash, and further investigation is currently underway.
