FRESNO COUNTY, CA (February 5, 2025) – Sunday morning, Bailie French was killed and her child was hospitalized after a crash on Highway 168.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene near Qualls Prather Road on February 2nd.

The CHP received a call around 8:40 a.m., regarding an “overdue party” that failed to arrive home.

At around 11:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of a child on the shoulder of westbound Highway 198, east of Qualls Prather Road.

Upon arrival, the CHP and Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a Subaru that had left the roadway. Investigators claimed the Subaru rolled over several times before landing down an embankment.

First responders pronounced the female driver dead at the scene. Later, the coroner’s office identified the deceased driver as 30-year-old French, of Yokuts Valley.

Investigators say the 7-year-old passenger spent almost 12 hours at the crash site before making his way to the roadway.

Paramedics rushed the male juvenile to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment of moderate to major injuries. The boy was later reunited with his father at the hospital.
