63-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck While Walking Dog on Christmas Day near North Ruddell Street

DENTON, TX (February 4, 2025) – Wednesday evening, James Ray Carter and his dog were killed in a pedestrian crash on East University Drive.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 6:40 p.m., near North Ruddell Street on December 25th.

Denton Police Officers say two vehicles collided in the area. The impact pushed one of the cars into a pedestrian who was walking his dog in the area.

Medical personnel transported 63-year-old Carter to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced Carter deceased at the hospital.

In addition, crews pronounced the dog dead at the scene.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
