Three Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck vs Car Collision near 17th Avenue
KINGS COUNTY, CA (January 30, 2025) – Late Saturday night, a semi-truck collision on Kansas Avenue took the lives of three people.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 11:43 p.m., near 17th Avenue, just north of Stratford.
Per reports, the driver of a southbound 2017 Toyota Camry failed to yield on 17th Avenue and entered the intersection.
Consequently, the Camry was struck on the passenger side by a 2020 Peterbilt 579 that was heading east on Kansas Avenue. The impact pushed the Camry off the roadway and into a metal pole before coming to a stop.
Responding medical personnel pronounced the two rear passengers of the Camry dead at the scene. Another passenger succumbed to their injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
Police said the Camry driver went to the same hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. CHP reported that medical personnel treated the front passenger of the Camry at the scene and then released them.
The Peterbilt driver remained unharmed from the crash. At this time, Kings County officials continue to investigate the fatal two-vehicle crash.
