Driver Sought after Fatal Pedestrian vs Car Collision near Mount Etna Drive

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 29, 2025) – Friday evening, one woman was pronounced dead after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Genesee Avenue. 

Police officers responded to the 4200 block of Genesee Avenue near Mount Etna Drive around 9:00 p.m.

Investigators say the driver of an unidentified northbound vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road. Per reports, the pedestrian was walking west within the marked south crosswalk.

Responding emergency personnel transported the woman to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed.

The circumstances that led up to the crash remain unclear and police are working to identify the suspect who fled the scene. 

San Diego officials are asking those who witnessed the Genesee Avenue hit-and-run to call the Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
