66-Year-Old Man Dies in Fiery Collision near 124th Avenue Southeast

KENT, WA (January 29, 2025) – Friday evening, Ricky Eldon Ballard was killed in a fiery multi-car accident on Kent-Kangley Road.

Dispatchers received calls around 8:00 p.m., at the 12400 block of Kent-Kangley Road near 124th Avenue Southwest.

For reasons under investigation, Ballard was driving a blue Mustang east when he veered into oncoming lanes and crashed into a curb. In addition, Ballard struck two oncoming westbound vehicles.

Nearby witnesses located Ballard trapped inside the burning car, and extricated him from the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 66-year-old Ballard at the scene.

Meanwhile, one of the drivers sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash, and further investigation was handled by the Kent Police Traffic Unit.
