Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Thunderbird Road
PHOENIX, AZ (January 28, 2025) – Early Sunday morning, one man was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on 41st Avenue.
Phoenix Police officers responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m., near Thunderbird Road on January 19th.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a vehicle struck a male pedestrian in the area.
Following preliminary duties, troopers determined that the man was lying on the roadway of Thunderbird Road when the eastbound vehicle hit him.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male victim dead at the scene.
Officers say the suspect driver stopped for a short period and later fled the scene.
Responding crews blocked off Thunderbird Road between 40th Drive and 39th Avenue for several hours while they cleared the scene.
Police have not released the victim’s identity, and they are still in search for the suspect. Witnesses are urged to call local officers as soon as possible.
